The only good lead is your own lead
I often hear the question, “Should I pay for leads for my business?”
Let me ask you this. Have you ever handed over your best email address to someone and said, “Here you go. Please sell this to a marketer or ten. I love to get email from people that I don’t know who are trying to sell me something.”
Now I have no idea how “paid leads” get collected, captured, harvested, or whatever you want to call it. That isn’t really my point. What I want you to think about is this. A paid lead probably doesn’t know you from Adam. Do you think that they are more likely to buy from you because you paid for their email address?
The size of your list isn’t where the value is. The fact that it is YOUR list is what makes it valuable. You build your list with people who agree to receive email from you, usually because you have given them a valuable report or pointed them to a fantastic service. If you have given them something good, they will look forward to your next email. They will be more than happy to try something else that you recommend.
Start your business off on the right foot. Build your own list and develop your relationship with them. People buy from people that they know and trust.
