Using Traffic Exchanges Effectively?
Wow, just finished gathering some info for The Talon newsletter to be published Sunday. There is always so much information that needs to be distributed, the newsletter would become so long no one would ever finish reading it. Instead will use this blog for more information.
Have often heard, seen it posted in forums and other places that traffic exchanges don’t work. Many times the question has to be raised. What are you advertising? What are you trying to accomplish? What type page are you using? How much do you surf, i.e. how many credits do you send to your site before coming to that conclusion?
This is not meant to be discouraging, in contrast is to inform you of the best, most effective ways to use traffic exchanges. Surfing each day with no plan, or focus, using your credits on normal affiliate pages can be a huge waste of your time and energy.
Most of the time, these affiliate pages are “sales pages” and unless specifically designed with traffic exchanges in mind are not what you really want to use. I learned this the hard way. Over two years of using traffic exchanges until I started listening to the people that really understand and know HOW to make effective use of them.
Your most important usage of traffic exchanges is to build your list of subscribers. This requires a fast loading “Splash” page with your name, photo, and your subscribe form. Also include 3 or 4 bullet points why someone should sign up for your information.
Keeping the above in mind, “Branding” yourself, is very important. Keep your image and name on every page you advertise. People will start to recognize you, trust you and more likely to use your recommendations on products and services.
Okay, let’s say you don’t have an autoresponder or follow up messages to build your list? Certainly something you should start doing as soon as possible, but when you don’t there are still effective ways to make good use from traffic exchanges.
You should still be using a fast loading type page that includes your name and image. If promoting an affiliate program that has a good sales page, create a clickable link from your splash page that will direct them to it. Make sure it opens in a new window. Surfers do not like to be taken from their surfing sessions.
Here are a few other points you might want to consider? Does your page have audio/video that cannot be turned off? Does your page have an annoying pop-up? Does your page take over 5 seconds to load? Any of the above type pages should not be used in traffic exchanges! They are very annoying to your average surfer.
Next thing you need to consider is that other members of traffic exchanges are just like you, looking for a way to increase their income on the Internet. So think about what you have to offer that could truly fill that need? Do they need more traffic? Do they need tools that will make their work online easier and faster? Just some things to think about.
Now, how many views of your site do you think it will take to build your business? Let me just say that sending a couple hundred credits a week to your site won’t do the trick. Your business needs to be seen constantly, daily, 24/7 for effective advertising. Just as in offline advertising, same applies to online. Important thing is that traffic exchanges are free with advantages for upgrades, but you do have to put in some effort by simply surfing to build your credits.
Very low cost advertising, just put in the time and make it more effective!
As always, comments Welcome!
