Traffic exchanges are not downline builders. Many have downline builders. Does that qualify them as downline builders? Not in my opinion. To me, that's an added perk. Traffic exchanges are designed for advertising YOUR business.

Building downlines in traffic exchanges are beneficial in creating more traffic credits for you, in some cases commissions when referring others that make purchases. Can you create a business referring others to traffic exchanges? Yes, some have but not without lots of effort, time and the ability to create their own sites designed to do just that.

People that build downlines in traffic exchanges, do it with either downline builder programs or create their own downline builder. Using the downline builder within a traffic exchange can bring some results but should not be considered the main source for building a downline to any program. Use programs that are designed to do that.

Most people doing a good job of referring others to traffic exchanges are doing it for one reason. To build traffic to their website, opportunity, sales letter, or whatever their business might be. In building traffic exchange downlines, they are building their traffic and enough commissions to at least pay for upgraded positions, for even more traffic.

Confused yet? Let's take Soaring4Traffic as an example. We currently have 8 programs in our regular downline builder. These programs are my suggestions for building a business. They were chosen by me as either a downline builder themselves, tools I recommend, or other advertising options. If you're a member of the listed programs, it would be silly not to enter your referral ID. On occasion some will use that section to join a program or add a tool.

Of course you can always remind your referrals of the downline builder, encourage them to view the options, your results might increase.

That section by my definition is not a downline builder, rather a source for programs I feel will help build your business, just as the resource section you see listed at the bottom of this newsletter. They are in fact my opinion, yours could be totally different. Should you sign up for all of them for fear of losing a referral? Of course not, that would be totally absurd. Even if some are free you would still need to devote time and or money.

Now, lets address the Traffic Exchange's listed in the other so called "downline builder" for lack of a better phrase. Total count as of this writing, sixty one (61) probably more than any other traffic exchange would dare include. Why so many? Plain and simple, it is not meant as a downline builder. If the intention was to be a downline builder, it might have at most 5 to 10 traffic exchanges listed.

The traffic exchanges listed there have been effective for me, most I've been using for a couple of years. It would be ridiculous for anyone to join all those programs at once. For those you are a member of, again it would be outright silly not to enter your referral ID. Is it a downline builder? No, it's main purpose is to create your surf console. Will you gain an occasional referral from it? Sure but don't expect miracles. I repeat, it is not an effective downline builder in the true sense of the word.

When I recommend a traffic exchange, I don't say, join this traffic exchange because of it's downline builder. Most of the time I don't mention it has one. I recommend, because it has effective traffic and feel it's a good advertising source. If it has a downline builder, great, will enter all my referral links in the programs I use. To me that's just one more possibility, an extra perk if you will, that someone might use the downline builder to join a program using my referral link. Just another advertising source!

If you want to build downlines for any type program, create your own downline builder system. Use something like James Grandstaff's Downline Secrets script. On the other hand you could use programs already online designed for that pupose. The FreeClickThruClub, TrafficTornado, TrafficHoopla, Affiliate Funnel, just to name a few. Many more available.

Good example of someone doing his own thing to build referrals for traffic exchanges, Tony Tezak. You've seen him many times if you do any amount of surfing. :)

Surprisingly, two programs not designed as downline builders have been very effective in new memberships for Soaring4Traffic. PageSwirl and Leisure Audio Books, both in our "program downline builder." Since they are really not downline builder programs, this is rare. Many programs will be responsible for an occasional referral, but these two are awesome. Proves there are exceptions to every rule. :)

This article is my opinion and was brought about by the chatter lately in forums, conferences, about building downlines the proper way. Was my intention to point out the difference in a downline builder vs traffic exchange. If your business is building downlines, use traffic exchanges to advertise your downline builder. If you want to build a downline, use programs designed to build a downline.

Do you have an active sponsor in a program/opportunity? One who's been there when you needed them. A person that you have gotten to know and trust. When you see a program of interest, do you contact that person first, ask if they are a member and if so, request their referral link? That's my definition of loyalty and integrity!
